Tips for Brides

SKIN CARE

Looking good requires you to feel good. Taking the time to exercise, following good eating practices, and drinking lots of water will help you and your skin look and feel great.

Apart from any facials you may have, it is also important to set up a routine of skin care. Cleansing, toning and moisturizing and the occasional exfoliation treatment are the key to keeping your skin in tiptop condition.

Don’t forget your eyes and lips. A good eye cream and lip conditioner are worth it.

If you are getting facials make sure the last one is at least two weeks before your wedding. Deep facial massage and manipulation can cause redness and bumps that may not go away in time for your wedding day.

At your initial consultation, your makeup artist should first discuss with you any skin issues you may have. She should also find out if you have any allergies or concerns.

MAKEUP & HAIR

Have pictures ready with different styles of hair and makeup you like. Also, consider purchasing your veil after you have decided how you would like to wear your hair. You should be choosing your hairstyle based on you, not your veil.

Try to schedule your trial run in the morning or early afternoon so you can really see how your makeup looks in different lighting and how it holds up for the entire day.

Check with your makeup artist about a touch-up kit for the wedding day consisting of the loose powder and the lipstick you’ll be wearing. Those should be the only things you will need to retouch.

Find a makeup artist you are comfortable with and trust her guidance. She is a trained professional who has worked in weddings before and a better resource than any YouTube channel available. She cares about you, your day, the pictures and memories you will have for the rest of your life.

BODY CARE

Don’t forget your hands. Get into the habit of moisturizing them before going to sleep. Nails should be done a day or two before the wedding day to give them enough time to dry.

Because you’ll be on your feet for hours, make certain that your shoes fit comfortably. Try to break in your shoes by wearing them around a house before your wedding.

Waxing should be done a couple of days in advance to keep redness away. Have waxing done professionally. Over-the-counter waxing products are unreliable and harsh.

Tan if you’re going someplace tropical for your honeymoon to get a base tan. Otherwise, please stay away from it. Besides the fact that it is damaging, it can also appear unnatural. You can always ask your makeup artist to use a bronzer.

RELAXATION

Get a massage! A full-body massage the day before your ceremony is a delightful way to prepare for your big day. There is nothing like the calming and relaxing effect a massage will bring.

A good massage reduces stress levels, and relieves stiffness in the body. It increases circulation by assisting oxygen and nutrients reach tissues and organs. It can also release endorphins, which act as a pain reliever.

A full body massage helps remove dead skin cells over the entire body for improved skin tone. The stimulated blood flow benefits the appearance and health of the skin. This can be your ultimate treat to yourself!
